Why Florida roofs stain

The dark streaks and black staining on Florida roofs are a living algae, not dirt, and they will not rinse off. In our heat and humidity it grows nearly year-round, spreading across the roof and holding moisture against the surface. Left alone it keeps spreading and, on shingle roofs, can contribute to wear over time.

The only safe way to clean a roof

Roofs are cleaned with a low-pressure soft wash that kills the algae at the surface and lets it weather away cleanly. High pressure is never the answer on a roof: it cracks tile, strips shingle granules, and does not stop the growth from returning. We treat the full roof, not just the visible streaks, because the growth is across the whole surface.

Walking a tile roof is one of the most common ways it gets cracked, and the damage often hides until the next hard rain finds it. We clean what we can reach from the ground and ladders, and use our drone for the high, steep, and screened areas, so no one stands on your tile. It works on tile, shingle, and metal alike.
